Heavy Rain Moving Across North Jersey as Strong Storms Develop

A large band of heavy thunderstorms is sweeping across North Jersey, bringing intense rainfall and hazardous travel conditions.

The primary concern is torrential rainfall rates of 1–2 inches per hour, which could quickly lead to flash flooding on roadways, poor drainage areas, and other low-lying locations.

Residents should also be prepared for:

• Gusty winds • Frequent lightning • Localized flooding

More rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected through tonight and into tomorrow, meaning the threat for severe weather and flooding will continue.
