⚖️ Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed Over Elderly Woman’s Care at Jersey Shore Facilities

The estate of Andrea Palendrano filed a wrongful death lawsuit against three Jersey Shore medical facilities, alleging negligence and poor care led to her death. The complaint claims inadequate staffing and monitoring caused the elderly woman to suffer from infections and sepsis.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — August 24, 2026 — A wrongful death lawsuit filed in Ocean County Superior Court alleges that the care an elderly woman received at an assisted living facility, nursing home and hospital contributed to a series of preventable medical complications and ultimately her death.
The estate of Andrea Palendrano has filed suit against Wellington Estates in Spring Lake, Tower Lodge Care Center in Wall Township, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Hackensack Meridian Health and affiliated entities and individuals.
According to the complaint, Palendrano lived at Wellington Estates until January 3, 2024, when she was hospitalized at Jersey Shore University Medical Center following an alleged fall that resulted in a fractured femoral neck.
She was subsequently treated at Tower Lodge Care Center from January 8 through January 25 before returning to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where she remained until her death on February 11, 2024.
⚖️ Lawsuit Alleges Multiple Failures in Care
The complaint alleges that Palendrano experienced a number of medical complications during her care, including pressure ulcers, dehydration, malnutrition, infections, sepsis and respiratory failure.
The lawsuit also accuses the defendants of inadequate staffing, insufficient monitoring, delayed treatment, poor hygiene, inadequate nutrition and hydration, failures to follow physician orders and other alleged lapses in care.
The estate further alleges that medical and facility records were improperly maintained or falsified and that the defendants failed to provide appropriate care and protections.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
The lawsuit includes claims of negligence, gross negligence, wrongful death and alleged violations of New Jersey laws protecting nursing home residents. The estate is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, along with various records related to Palendrano's care.
