LONG BRANCH, NJ — A two alarm fire broke out Tuesday night at a vacant home in Long Branch, directly next to a small historic cottage connected to one of Bruce Springsteen's most iconic albums.
The fire occurred at a vacant property near 7½ West End Court, the tiny one story cottage where Springsteen lived and wrote much of the material for his 1975 album “Born to Run.”
Strong winds helped the fire spread quickly overnight, according to reports. Despite the flames reaching the neighboring property, the historic Springsteen cottage was not damaged.
🚒 Firefighters responded to the two alarm blaze and worked to contain the fire. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

The cause of the fire has not been released.
The incident has renewed discussion about protecting the historic cottage.
