š„š THREE-ALARM FIRE DISPLACES 22 RESIDENTS IN NEW BRUNSWICK šš„
A three-alarm fire at an eight-unit residential building in New Brunswick displaced 22 residents on Tuesday afternoon. Three firefighters sustained minor injuries while battling the blaze, which remains under investigation by local officials.
š NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ ā Firefighters battled a challenging three-alarm fire Tuesday afternoon at a multi-unit residential building on Louis Street, displacing more than two dozen residents.
The New Brunswick Fire Department responded at approximately 1:24 p.m. to the three-story, eight-unit residential building at 88 Louis Street.
Crews worked for nearly four hours before the fire was brought under control at approximately 5:13 p.m.
š Twenty-two residents were displaced as a result of the fire. Thankfully, officials reported that no civilians were injured.
š Three firefighters, including two New Brunswick firefighters and one mutual-aid firefighter, sustained minor injuries while operating at the scene.
š A significant mutual-aid response was required, with fire companies from Edison, East Franklin, North Brunswick, East Brunswick and other surrounding communities assisting New Brunswick crews.
Additional agencies and resources included the New Brunswick Police Department, New Brunswick Office of Emergency Management and Middlesex County Fire Coordinators.
Several departments also provided coverage for the City of New Brunswick while local crews operated at the fire.
š„ Firefighters remained at the scene after the fire was knocked down to complete overhaul operations and check for remaining hot spots.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
š The New Brunswick Fire Department thanked all mutual-aid companies and supporting agencies for their assistance, both at the fire scene and while helping maintain emergency coverage throughout the city.
