🚨 SECAUCUS POLICE OFFICER TALKS MAN DOWN FROM RAILROAD BRIDGE 🚨

Secaucus police officers successfully talked a 33-year-old man down from a railroad bridge near Harmon Cove Towers on Monday. The man, who was distraught over his fiancée’s death, agreed to seek help and was taken to a local medical center.
📍 SECAUCUS, NJ — A potentially tragic situation ended safely Monday afternoon after a Secaucus police officer successfully talked a distraught man down from the ledge of a railroad overpass near Harmon Cove Towers.
According to police, the 33-year-old man called 911 himself at approximately 2:48 p.m., telling dispatchers he was preparing to jump from the bridge over active railroad tracks used by Conrail freight trains.
🚔 Officers Kiril Petrov and Robert Schaffer rushed to the scene and found the man standing on the ledge on the opposite side of the bridge’s fence, clinging to it.
Officer Petrov began speaking with the man and worked to calm him down. After continued conversation, Petrov convinced the man to come down from the bridge and agree to seek medical attention.
The man was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for evaluation. Police said he was distraught following the recent death of his fiancée.
👏 Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller praised the officers, dispatcher, supervisors and training involved in the response, saying their actions helped preserve the man’s life.
