🚨 RETIRED NJ POLICE LIEUTENANT INDICTED IN ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT OF 13 YEAR OLD
A retired Hopewell Township police lieutenant was indicted for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Kingwood Township. Christopher H. Kascik faces five charges after prosecutors said he provided the child with alcohol and assaulted her at his home.
KINGWOOD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A retired Hopewell Township police lieutenant is facing a five count indictment stemming from allegations involving a 13 year old girl, prosecutors announced.
Christopher H. Kascik, 53, of Kingwood Township, was indicted by a Hunterdon County grand jury on September 17, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
Kascik is charged with:
🔹 One count of sexual assault 🔹 One count of endangering the welfare of a child involving sexual conduct 🔹 One count of endangering the welfare of a child involving abuse 🔹 Two counts of criminal sexual contact
According to prosecutors, Kascik allegedly provided alcoholic beverages to the girl at his Kingwood Township residence on March 29, 2025. Authorities allege the girl became intoxicated and that Kascik then sexually assaulted her.
The case is being prosecuted by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, which was designated to handle the matter in Hunterdon County Superior Court. Investigators with the prosecutor’s Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit and the New Jersey State Police worked on the investigation.
Kascik previously spent approximately 25 years with the Hopewell Township Police Department. Township records indicate he began as a dispatcher in 1994, became a patrol officer in 1996, was promoted to sergeant in 2011 and lieutenant in 2014. He retired from the department effective February 1, 2019.
At the time of his arrest, Kascik was working as a civilian receptionist for the Hunterdon County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Frederick Brown said Kascik was hired in February 2024 and resigned in April 2025 following his arrest.
The case initially involved a single child endangerment charge filed in April 2025. Court records indicate the current five count indictment superseded an earlier indictment.
The case remains pending in Superior Court.
