🚨 POINT PLEASANT BOROUGH MAN INDICTED IN CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE MATERIAL CASE
An Ocean County grand jury indicted John Olson of Point Pleasant Borough for allegedly possessing and manufacturing child sexual abuse material. Investigators claim Olson used hidden cameras to record children inside a home that formerly operated as a foster care facility.
📍 POINT PLEASANT BOROUGH, NJ — A 44-year-old Point Pleasant Borough man has been indicted on multiple charges related to the alleged possession, distribution and manufacturing of child sexual abuse material, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
John Olson was indicted on September 9 on one count of distribution, four counts of manufacturing and one count of possession of child sexual abuse material.
According to prosecutors, the investigation began after the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children involving the alleged online transmission of child sexual abuse material.
Investigators reportedly traced an IP address to a Point Pleasant Borough residence. Authorities later identified an image that prosecutors allege Olson uploaded and sent through a Kik Messenger account.
🔎 Authorities searched the residence on August 22, 2025, and seized multiple electronic devices. Prosecutors said the home had previously operated as a foster home and contained cameras in children's bedrooms.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, an examination of the seized devices allegedly uncovered nude images of children on Olson’s cellphone that appeared to have been captured by the bedroom cameras.
Additional charges were filed against Olson on August 28, 2025, following the examination of the devices.
⚖️ The charges are allegations, and Olson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The investigation was conducted with the involvement of the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and federal child-exploitation reporting resources.
