💥 Pennsylvania Man Killed, Two Injured in Route 55 Crash in Vineland
A 68-year-old Pennsylvania man died Saturday after a Tesla crossed the Route 55 median in Vineland and struck his SUV. Two other people were hospitalized with moderate injuries, and New Jersey State Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
VINELAND, NJ — August 22, 2026 — A 68-year-old Pennsylvania man was killed and two others were injured Saturday morning after a Tesla crossed the median of Route 55 and crashed into an SUV in Vineland, according to New Jersey State Police.
Police identified the deceased as Phillip Eastman, 68, of Springfield, Pennsylvania. He suffered fatal injuries in the crash, which was reported at approximately 8:31 a.m.
According to State Police, the Tesla was traveling southbound on Route 55 near milepost 34.6 when the driver lost control. The vehicle ran off the roadway, crossed the grass median, struck a tree and continued into the northbound lanes.
The Tesla then collided with a Chevrolet SUV occupied by Eastman and a passenger.
💔 Eastman was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. His passenger and the Tesla driver were both transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries.
The Tesla driver has not been publicly identified.
🔎 The crash remains under investigation by the New Jersey State Police. Authorities have not released additional information regarding what caused the Tesla driver to lose control.
