🏥 New Tinton Falls Cancer Center Set to Open in February 2027

TINTON FALLS, NJ — August 16, 2026 — A major new cancer treatment facility is coming to Monmouth County, with RWJBarnabas Health's Specialty and Cancer Care Center in Tinton Falls scheduled to open in February 2027.

The five-story cancer center is being constructed as part of the new Vogel Medical Campus, a 36-acre medical campus located along Pearl Harbor Avenue near Corregidor Road on the former Fort Monmouth property.

The cancer center will be located next to the future replacement campus for Monmouth Medical Center, which is relocating from Long Branch. The new hospital is planned to include 252 beds, but is not expected to open until 2032.

🎗️ Comprehensive Cancer Care

The new Tinton Falls facility is expected to provide a wide range of cancer services under one roof, including:

🔹 Chemotherapy and radiation treatment 🔹 Same-day surgery 🔹 Advanced imaging, including CT, PET and MRI scans 🔹 Clinical trials 🔹 Cancer care provided in partnership with Rutgers Cancer Institute

RWJBarnabas Health says the center represents another major investment in expanding access to specialized cancer care throughout New Jersey.

The health system has invested approximately $1.5 billion over the past decade in major freestanding cancer centers across the state, including facilities in New Brunswick and Livingston.

🏗️ Part of Major Monmouth Medical Center Relocation

The Tinton Falls project is part of RWJBarnabas Health's controversial plan to relocate Monmouth Medical Center from its longtime home in Long Branch.

The relocation has faced opposition from local officials and U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, who argued that moving the hospital could reduce access to healthcare in Long Branch.

As part of requirements imposed by the New Jersey Department of Health, RWJBarnabas will continue providing certain acute-care services in Long Branch for at least 10 years following the relocation. An emergency room and surgical operating rooms are also expected to remain there indefinitely.

The existing Long Branch campus is expected to be significantly reduced in size as part of the transition.

🌊 Local Students Leave Their Mark

The new cancer center will also feature a unique piece of community artwork.

More than 300 local elementary school students participated in creating a massive two-story mosaic consisting of 68,165 individual glass tiles. 🧩🎨

The artwork features an underwater ocean theme, paying tribute to Monmouth County's connection to the Atlantic Ocean.

With construction continuing, the new Tinton Falls cancer center is expected to become a major regional destination for cancer diagnosis, treatment and research when it opens next year. 🎗️🏥
