Morganville Fire Department members used ropes and a ladder system to rescue an elderly person from a creek embankment on August 13. Firefighters hoisted the victim to safety in a specialized basket before emergency medical services provided treatment.
MORGANVILLE, NJ ā August 16, 2026 ā Members of the Morganville Fire Department carried out a technical rescue Thursday afternoon after an elderly person was injured and ended up down an embankment in a creek.
The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. on August 13, when firefighters were dispatched to assist police with the injured individual.
Upon arrival, Morganville Fire Department crews established an extension ladder system along with a rope rescue mechanical advantage system to safely reach the patient at the bottom of the embankment.
Firefighters secured the patient inside a Stokes basket before utilizing the rope rescue system to carefully hoist the basket up the embankment.
Once safely brought to the top, the patient was turned over to waiting EMS personnel for further evaluation and treatment. š
Fire officials credited the successful rescue to the department members' training, specialized equipment and teamwork.
The operation serves as another example of the importance of technical rescue capabilities when emergency crews are faced with difficult terrain and challenging access conditions. šØāššŖ
