SAYREVILLE, NJ ā August 24, 2026 ā An investigation is underway after a man was shot by police during a confrontation involving a knife in the Parlin section of Sayreville over the weekend.
The incident reportedly occurred late Saturday afternoon on Kendall Drive, where police were called following reports of a man causing a disturbance and allegedly threatening or menacing others while armed with a knife.
According to preliminary reports, officers confronted the man and ordered him to drop the weapon. Authorities say the man then lunged toward an officer with the knife, prompting the officer to fire multiple shots.
The man was struck and rushed to a local hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been released.
