🚨 I-195 TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO TWO ARRESTS, LOADED FIREARM RECOVERED IN MONMOUTH COUNTY

📍 MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — A routine traffic stop on Interstate 195 late Monday night led to the arrests of two men and the recovery of a loaded, privately manufactured AR-15-style firearm, according to authorities.

Police said Patrolman Trent Powers conducted a motor vehicle stop around 11:02 p.m. on August 3, 2026, following a traffic violation.

During the investigation, the front-seat passenger was identified as 47-year-old Jarrone Perry of Jackson. Authorities determined Perry had an active warrant issued by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office for allegedly failing to register as a sex offender. Perry was taken into custody without incident.

A Brick Township Police K-9 team, including Handler LaPoint and K-9 Rebel, responded to assist. Police said Rebel conducted a free-air sniff around the vehicle and indicated the possible presence of narcotics or other contraband.

A subsequent search allegedly led to the discovery of a loaded, unserialized AR-15-style privately manufactured firearm, commonly referred to as a “ghost gun.” 🚔

Perry and the driver, 18-year-old Christopher Ojeda Jr. of Toms River, were arrested and charged with multiple weapons offenses, including:

🔹 Possession of an Unserialized Firearm 🔹 Possession of Hollow-Point Ammunition 🔹 Possession of an Assault Firearm 🔹 Unlawful Possession of a Rifle 🔹 Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm

Perry also faces an additional charge of Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons.

Both defendants were processed under the New Jersey Criminal Justice Reform Act and transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
