MONTCLAIR, NJ ā Police are investigating after a pedestrian was allegedly pepper sprayed in the face by a woman driving a vehicle during a confrontation over money in Montclair.
According to the Montclair Police Department, the incident occurred on August 4 near the intersection of Glenridge Avenue and Pine Street.
Police said the victim reported that he was standing at the corner when a vehicle pulled up alongside him and the driver asked him for money.
After the man allegedly told the driver that he did not have any money, authorities said the woman pulled out a canister of pepper spray and sprayed the victim in the face and on his clothing.
The driver then reportedly fled the area in an unknown direction.
Police have not released additional information about the suspect or the vehicle involved.
The investigation remains ongoing.
