🚨🚒 BRIDGEWATER FIRE OFFICIALS SEEK DRIVER ACCUSED OF DAMAGING FIRE HOSE

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Fire officials in Bridgewater are asking for the public’s help identifying a driver accused of ignoring emergency scene warnings and driving over a pressurized fire hose while firefighters battled a house fire.

The incident occurred on August 20 during a structure fire at a home on Oak Street, according to the Bridgewater Fire District 2 Board of Fire Commissioners.

🔥 DRIVER ALLEGEDLY DROVE THROUGH EMERGENCY SCENE

Officials said the driver proceeded through the active emergency scene despite firefighters warning the vehicle to stop.

The vehicle reportedly drove over a pressurized fire hose and became stuck. Authorities said the driver then allegedly rocked the vehicle back and forth in an attempt to free it from the hose.

The fire district estimates the incident caused more than $2,000 in damage to firefighting hoses and couplings.

⚠️ OFFICIALS WARN OF POTENTIAL DANGER

Fire officials said the hose did not experience a catastrophic failure, which could have resulted in serious injury or death to the driver, firefighters or nearby bystanders.

Firefighters were actively focused on battling the structure fire and were unable to obtain identifying information about the vehicle.

The fire district is now seeking information that could help identify the driver and is seeking restitution for the damaged firefighting equipment.

🚗 PUBLIC REMINDER: When approaching an emergency scene, motorists should obey directions from firefighters, police officers and other emergency personnel. Emergency equipment, including fire hoses, must remain clear so crews can safely and effectively operate.
