Brick Township police arrested Anthony S. Cerchio for allegedly burglarizing several vehicles in Brick and Point Pleasant Borough. Investigators recovered approximately $15,000 in stolen tools and charged the 35-year-old with multiple counts of burglary and theft.
A 35-year-old Brick Township man is facing multiple burglary charges following an investigation that allegedly connected him to a series of vehicle burglaries in Point Pleasant Borough and Brick Township.
Anthony S. Cerchio, 35, was arrested Tuesday by Brick Township police in connection with a series of burglaries in the township. During the investigation, detectives reportedly uncovered evidence linking Cerchio to several vehicle burglaries in Point Pleasant Borough.
According to court records, Point Pleasant police charged Cerchio with six counts of burglary.
Brick Township police said their investigation began after a series of burglaries on the north side of the township. Investigators developed information identifying a suspect described as a white male in his 30s who was reportedly driving a dark-colored SUV.
š®āāļø Members of the Brick Township Police Patrol Division, Street Crimes Unit and Detective Bureau assisted with the investigation and execution of a search warrant.
Police said approximately $15,000 worth of tools and other property believed to have been stolen during vehicle burglaries was recovered. Some of the recovered property was also connected to the Point Pleasant cases, authorities said.
In Brick Township, Cerchio faces three counts of burglary, three counts of theft, receiving stolen property and fencing-related charges, according to police.
Cerchio was charged on a summons and released pending further court proceedings.
The allegations remain subject to the court process, and a criminal charge is not a finding of guilt.
