Authorities recovered the body of 64-year-old Eric Daviduk from Sandy Hook Bay on Wednesday afternoon. The Pennsylvania man went missing Monday while clamming near Atlantic Highlands, prompting an extensive multi-agency search after his boat was found floating unattended.
The search for a Pennsylvania man who disappeared while clamming in Sandy Hook Bay has come to an end after his body was recovered from the water Wednesday afternoon.
New Jersey State Police troopers recovered the body of Eric Daviduk, 64, of Southampton, Pennsylvania, after a passing boater reported seeing a body in the bay at approximately 4:06 p.m.
Daviduk had last been seen Monday near the Atlantic Highlands municipal marina. Earlier that day, authorities located his motorboat floating unattended near the SeaStreak ferry terminal. Police said the vessel was equipped for commercial clamming.
š Following the discovery of the empty boat, Atlantic Highlands Police, NJ State Police, other local law enforcement agencies and the NYPD participated in an extensive search that continued Monday night and into Tuesday.
The circumstances surrounding Daviduk's disappearance and death remain under investigation. Additional information regarding what led to him entering the water was not immediately available.
