🚨 ATTEMPTED BURGLARY REPORTED IN MONTCLAIR; SUSPECT CAUGHT ON HOME SECURITY CAMERA 🚔
Montclair Police Department officers are investigating an attempted burglary on Highland Avenue after a masked individual was caught on camera trying to enter a home’s rear door. The suspect fled the scene on foot, and no entry was made into the residence.
📍 MONTCLAIR, NJ — Police are investigating an attempted burglary after a resident discovered surveillance footage showing a masked individual trying to gain access to a home on Highland Avenue.
According to the Montclair Police Department, the incident was reported on August 29 after the homeowner reviewed security footage and discovered suspicious activity that occurred during the overnight hours.
Police said the surveillance video showed a suspect entering the backyard at approximately 3:06 a.m. The individual reportedly used a flashlight while looking through windows into the home's kitchen.
The suspect then allegedly attempted to open the rear kitchen door, which was locked. After being unable to gain entry, the individual left the area, walking north and eventually out of view of the camera.
🚨 Police said no entry was made into the residence.
Authorities described the suspect as having a medium build and wearing:
🔹 A mask 🔹 Gloves 🔹 A gray Nike Tech zip-up hooded sweatshirt with the hood fully drawn 🔹 Dark pants featuring a white stripe along the sides
The investigation remains ongoing.
