🚨 ARREST MADE FOLLOWING FATAL RARITAN CRASH INVESTIGATION 🚨

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and Raritan Borough Police Department have announced the arrest of 18-year-old Siddartha Prasad Surapanani of Belle Mead, NJ in connection with a fatal crash that occurred Monday morning, July 27, 2026, at the intersection of Route 202 and First Avenue in Raritan Borough. According to investigators, Surapanani was operating a Genesis SUV when he allegedly entered the intersection against a red light and struck the driver’s side of an Acura SUV. The driver of the Acura, a female Bridgewater resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities say Surapanani fled the crash scene on foot but was later apprehended by Raritan Police. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Investigators also reported receiving information regarding alleged erratic driving prior to the collision, including reports of the Genesis traveling the wrong direction on Route 202. Surapanani has been charged with 2nd Degree Vehicular Homicide. The investigation remains active as the Somerset County Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, and Raritan Police Department continue reviewing evidence. ⚠️ Charges are merely accusations.
